Drapatyi Named Ukraine’s New Military Chief

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Mykhailo Drapatyi will become the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The announcement was made in an address published on the president’s official website on July 21, 2026.

Zelenskyy said he and Drapatyi had identified tasks to be completed in the near and medium term. He added that operations by Ukraine’s Defense Forces would continue without interruption.

The president also said Ukraine’s long-range sanctions plan and its mid-strike program would be implemented with “absolute precision.”
