Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed efforts to revive diplomatic engagement and advance peace talks during a phone call with U.S. presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, according to a statement from the Ukrainian president’s office published July 22, 2026.

Zelenskyy joined the call with Ukrainian negotiating team members Rustem Umerov, Kyrylo Budanov and Sergiy Kyslytsya. The participants focused on ways to reinvigorate diplomacy and move closer to ending the conflict.

“Peace is needed – peace with dignity, and Ukraine has long been ready for it,” Zelenskyy said, adding that the negotiating teams would remain in close contact to follow up on previous discussions.

The Ukrainian president thanked Witkoff and Kushner for their efforts to promote peace and expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump and the American people for their continued support.
