Ukraine’s Deputy Head of the Office of the President, Iryna Mudra, emphasized the need for compensation to cover all damage caused by Russian aggression since 2014 during the second session of the Intergovernmental Negotiation Committee on an International Treaty in The Hague. Representatives from over 50 states, the European Union, and the Council of Europe attended the meeting, which focused on establishing a Claims Commission for Ukraine. Mudra highlighted the importance of addressing the illegal occupation of Crimea, the war in Donbas, and the decade of destruction caused by Russia’s aggression. The draft treaty and the key components of the future commission, including its composition, governance principles, and funding, were discussed during the session. The negotiations are expected to conclude by the end of the year, with the next session scheduled for July in The Hague.
