Queensland police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam or CCTV footage after an 81-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and robbed at a roadside banana stall in Port Douglas on September 3. Officers found the man lying beside Port Douglas Road at about 10:30 a.m. Initial investigations indicate he had stopped to buy bananas when he was approached by an unknown man. Following a brief verbal altercation, the man was allegedly pushed, and the suspect took the bananas before fleeing north in a grey vehicle. The victim was taken to Mossman Hospital with significant but non-life-threatening injuries. Police are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the incident or travelled along Port Douglas Road that morning.
