In a significant diplomatic development, Ukraine and Lithuania have agreed to enhance their cooperation in efforts to return Ukrainian children who have been illegally deported by Russia. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Ukrainian officials Iryna Mudra and Sergiy Kyslytsya, and Lithuanian representatives Gabija Grigaitė-Daugirdė and Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė. The discussions focused on establishing effective mechanisms to address the issue of children forcibly relocated by Russian authorities, a matter that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has prioritized. Both nations have committed to involving other countries in these efforts, particularly in monitoring occupied territories for propaganda impacts on children and their re-education in pro-Russian environments. Key topics also included the establishment of a Special Tribunal and a Claims Commission to address the grievances of those affected by Russian aggression. The creation of a Compensation Fund was discussed, aiming to utilize frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s recovery and to secure alternative financial resources for this cause. Lithuanian Deputy Minister Gabija Grigaitė-Daugirdė reaffirmed Lithuania’s commitment to supporting Ukraine, including facilitating investigations into Russian war crimes and advocating for stronger sanctions against Russia and Belarus. This agreement marks a step forward in Ukraine’s pursuit of justice and European integration. Post navigation Thailand Empowers Refugees with Work Rights
