The European Parliament will mark its seventh European Gender Equality Week from Nov. 3 to 6 with debates and events focused on women in leadership and ways to inspire the next generation of leaders. Parliamentary committees will examine issues including the gender pension gap, women in public life, disinformation campaigns, gender equality in rural areas, demographic change and the impact of global funding cuts on equality initiatives. Other discussions will address women in aviation, the judiciary and the EU media framework. A high-level event titled “Women in leadership – shaping the change and inspiring the next generation of leaders” will take place Nov. 3 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola will participate in a fireside chat hosted by Vice-President Antonella Sberna, in cooperation with Lina Gálvez, chair of the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee. The annual week was launched in 2020 to assess progress, highlight achievements and identify measures to advance the rights of women and girls. Events are organized by Parliament’s committees, delegations, political groups and administration, with sessions available through the Parliament’s Multimedia Centre.
