During recent diplomatic visits to Germany and Norway, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy secured key agreements that promise to enhance Ukraine’s air defense systems and foster significant advancements in drone technology.

In Germany, President Zelenskyy and Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz signed ten pivotal documents. These include a strategic partnership declaration and several defense-related agreements aimed at boosting Ukraine’s military capabilities amid ongoing regional tensions. Notably, the agreements cover the joint production of Anubis and Seth-X-G unmanned systems and the supply of GEM-T missiles and IRIS-T launch systems valued at billions of Euros.

The visit also sparked the initiation of the Drone Deal with Germany, leading to the establishment of multiple joint ventures between Ukrainian and German companies for developing advanced UAV technologies. This development marks a significant step in defense cooperation, the first of this scale in over two decades.

Further strengthening ties, in Oslo, President Zelenskyy and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre signed a Joint Declaration on Enhanced Defense and Security Cooperation. This agreement, which also supports the PURL initiative, underscores Norway’s commitment to enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities through focused collaboration in priority areas.

These series of agreements not only solidify Ukraine’s defense posture but also enhance its technological and industrial base, positioning the country as a significant player in the European defense landscape.
