Ukraine, Norway Deepen Security Ties

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre discussed strengthening bilateral security cooperation during a phone call on April 1, according to Ukraine’s presidential office.

The leaders reviewed global developments and bilateral initiatives, including Ukraine’s efforts to coordinate with the United States and European partners. Zelenskyy also briefed Støre on meetings and negotiations in the Middle East and Gulf region focused on shared security.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine had reached important agreements and that more countries were showing interest in security cooperation. He added that Kyiv was prepared to expand cooperation with European nations through existing agreements on defense production and other joint projects.

The discussion also covered practical next steps, including long-term cooperation to strengthen air defense capabilities. Zelenskyy described Norway as a leading supporter of Ukraine and said the two countries would continue working together on security initiatives.
