At the Defense Industry Forum in The Hague, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine’s defense production potential has surpassed $35 billion. This achievement, highlighted on June 24, 2025, underscores Ukraine’s commitment to bolstering its military capabilities amid ongoing tensions with Russia and calls for international collaboration. President Zelenskyy emphasized the vast range of Ukraine’s defense production, which includes nearly one thousand types of products such as artillery, armored vehicles, advanced drones, and missiles. Despite these capabilities, approximately 40% of this potential remains unfunded. Zelenskyy pointed out that with adequate investment, Ukraine could produce over 8 million drones annually, a significant contribution to its defense strategy. In his address, Zelenskyy urged European countries to increase their defense spending, advocating for a defense budget of 5% of GDP to counter Russian ambitions beyond Ukraine. He stressed the importance of a united European defense capability to deter further Russian aggression, particularly toward NATO member states. The President also appealed to international partners to ensure no support is inadvertently given to Russia’s military efforts. He highlighted the presence of foreign components in Russian weapons, urging countries and companies to halt any supply that aids Russia’s war efforts. Zelenskyy called this a “crime against peace,” emphasizing the need for strict measures to prevent such contributions from prolonging the conflict.
