Queensland police have charged five teenagers following an investigation into a fire that damaged an athletics facility at Sippy Downs last month. Emergency services were called to the athletics club on Olympic Way at about 2:18 a.m. on Aug. 9 after a rubbish bin caught fire. The bin was destroyed, and the athletics track beneath it sustained significant damage. A 15-year-old Palmview boy, a 14-year-old Palmview boy and a 14-year-old Sippy Downs boy were each charged with arson, wilful damage and disguising their faces with intent to commit an indictable offence. Two 13-year-old Sippy Downs boys were charged with arson and the same face-disguise offence. All five teenagers have been dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
