In a series of back-to-back diplomatic engagements on June 3, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, alongside NATO officials, participated in multiple events aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s defense amid ongoing conflicts. The day was marked by memorials, strategic discussions, and international collaborations.

The morning began with President Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte paying homage to Ukraine’s fallen defenders at the Wall of Remembrance near St. Michael’s Cathedral. This act of remembrance underscores the ongoing sacrifices made by Ukrainian soldiers in the face of aggression. Later in the day, Zelenskyy engaged in a pivotal discussion with the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, focusing on air defense supplies and the development of Europe’s anti-ballistic capabilities.

The day’s highlight was the inaugural Ukraine–NATO Council meeting held in Ukraine, attended by high-ranking NATO representatives including the Military Committee Chair Giuseppe Cavo Dragone. The discussions centered on enhancing Ukraine’s air defense systems to protect against both cruise and ballistic missiles. Zelenskyy emphasized the increased use of ballistic missiles by Russia, highlighting the urgent need for advanced countermeasures.

Apart from defense talks, economic strategies were also on the agenda. Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, met with an International Monetary Fund mission to discuss the implementation of economic reforms essential for Ukraine’s stability and growth.

The intensive diplomatic efforts by President Zelenskyy and his team reflect a robust approach to securing not only military support but also economic stability and international solidarity in these turbulent times.
