Gold Coast detectives have apprehended two individuals linked to fraudulent activities and the possession of suspected stolen goods in Surfers Paradise, as announced by the Queensland Police Service. The arrests occurred following an investigation by the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch into suspicious activities that transpired on April 16, 2026. Initial reports came in late on April 15, when a man and woman used a fraudulently obtained credit card and false identification to check into an apartment on Hanlan Street. The police were summoned to the same address the next morning for an unrelated issue but stumbled upon multiple credit cards bearing different names during their investigation. Equipment used for creating fake identification documents, including an identification card maker and a hologram laminator, was also found on the premises. A 43-year-old man from Kew, Victoria and a 49-year-old woman from McKinnon, Victoria face multiple charges including fraud, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, and possessing equipment for committing crimes. The man is scheduled to reappear before the Southport Magistrates Court on May 8, while the woman will have her court date on May 28. The Queensland Police continue their investigation into this matter and urge anyone with information to come forward to assist their ongoing efforts.
