Authorities are investigating a series of suspicious grass fires that erupted between Giru and Alligator Creek in Queensland on Tuesday, September 9. The fires, deliberately ignited by an unknown suspect, occurred between 1:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. along the Bruce Highway.

The Queensland Police Service reported that four separate fires were set: one on the southern side of the Haughton River Bridge in Giru, another 5 km north of the Bruce Highway and Cromarty Siding Road intersection in Cromarty, a third at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Cape Cleveland Road in Mount Elliot, and the last at the intersection of Tindall Court and Bruce Highway in Alligator Creek.

Police are urging the public to assist in the investigation by providing any relevant information or dashcam footage. Witnesses or those with information are encouraged to contact Policelink or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers. The reference number for this investigation is QI2501636213.
