President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has taken significant steps to align Ukraine’s sanctions with those of the European Union. On July 1, 2025, he enacted three decisions from the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) by signing the relevant decrees, reinforcing Ukraine’s stance against Russian aggression.

The decisions come amid ongoing international efforts to pressure Russia. Zelenskyy, in a recent address, emphasized the effectiveness of these sanctions, stating they have been confirmed by international partners to be significantly impacting Russia. He underlined the importance of sustained pressure to compel Russia to reconsider its aggressive policies.

In parallel diplomatic efforts, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for their role in evacuating Ukrainians from Iran and their humanitarian support. During a phone call with the Azerbaijani President, he reiterated Ukraine’s unwavering support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Further strengthening Ukraine’s international relations, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ihor Brusylo, met with Martin Kačo, Slovakia’s Director General for Political Affairs. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations, signaling a continued commitment to regional cooperation.
