NASA is inviting U.S. media to apply for accreditation to cover the planned launch of a Northrop Grumman Cygnus XL spacecraft to the International Space Station. The Northrop Grumman CRS-25 mission is targeted to lift off no earlier than 10:49 a.m. EST on Nov. 29 from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The spacecraft will launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and carry food, supplies, equipment and scientific investigations. After reaching orbit, station astronauts will use the Canadarm2 robotic arm to capture Cygnus and attach it to the Unity module. The spacecraft is expected to remain at the station until May 2027. The mission’s research payloads include technology to manufacture DNA-inspired particles for potential drug-delivery applications, a study examining whether cancer may spread to other parts of the body, and experiments involving human muscle cells and medications related to muscle loss. Cygnus also will deliver a compact radiation sensor intended to support crew safety on future missions. U.S. media seeking credentials must submit applications online by 11:59 p.m. EST on Nov. 12. NASA said the mission represents the company’s 25th spacecraft built to deliver supplies to the station under its commercial resupply contract with the agency.
