The European Parliament will focus on vehicle emissions, migration policy, security and gender equality during committee and political group meetings from Nov. 2 to 8, 2026. Members of the Environment, Climate and Food Safety Committee are scheduled to vote on revised carbon dioxide performance standards for new cars and vans. Proposed measures are expected to include emissions targets, incentives for certain electric vehicles, the use of EU-produced low-carbon steel and updated vehicle labels. Environment, Transport and Internal Market committees will also consider measures to accelerate the adoption of zero- and low-emission vehicles in corporate fleets and simplify legislation affecting the automotive industry, particularly rules for small electric vehicles. Other votes will address controls on chemicals used to manufacture illegal drugs, funding for EU border management, internal security, asylum and migration programs for 2028-2034, and the bloc’s enlargement process. Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos is due to present the 2026 assessment of nine candidate countries and one potential candidate. Gender Equality Week will run from Tuesday through Friday, with events focused on women’s rights, leadership and equality. Parliament President Roberta Metsola is scheduled to meet Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and participate in events on women’s leadership.
