Queensland police have charged a 45-year-old Ayr man with drink-driving and five other traffic-related offences after an alleged burnout in front of an unmarked police vehicle on September 20. Police said officers were parked on Graham Street at about 4 p.m. when a white Ford Falcon, with a dog in its tray, allegedly performed the manoeuvre. The vehicle was intercepted on Drysdale Street, where the driver allegedly returned an alcohol reading of 0.198. The man was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, wilfully making unnecessary smoke, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, unlicensed driving and animal cruelty. Police also confiscated the vehicle’s registration plates for 90 days. Senior Sergeant Lisa Shields said the alleged conduct was dangerous and could put lives at risk.
