Teen Charged Over Maryborough Threat Plot

Queensland police have charged a teenage boy over an alleged plan to threaten people in Maryborough, saying there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Detectives from the Counter-Terrorism Investigation Group executed a search warrant at a Maryborough address on Aug. 27. Multiple electronic devices and other items were seized during the operation.

The boy has been charged with acts in preparation to cause death or grievous bodily harm, possession of a knife in a public place and possession of violent extremist material. He was expected to appear in Brisbane Children’s Court on Sept. 22.

Queensland Police said investigations are continuing and encouraged anyone with information about potential threats to contact the National Security Hotline or police. Anonymous reports can be made through Crime Stoppers.
