Sergeant Scott Petrie has taken over as Officer in Charge of the Tin Can Bay police station, bringing nearly three decades of Queensland Police Service experience to the coastal community.

Sergeant Petrie joined the QPS in 1998 at Fortitude Valley and has since worked as a plain-clothes detective in North Brisbane, Stanthorpe and Gatton, as well as with the Rural Crime Squad. His most recent posting was in general duties in Roma, about 500 kilometres inland from Tin Can Bay.

He said the new role would be his first experience living and working on the coast. Sergeant Petrie said he was looking forward to leading a small team, working alongside officers on the road and serving the community in the region.

He also encouraged people considering a policing career to explore the range of roles available across Queensland, saying the profession offered opportunities for new challenges, community engagement and public safety work.
