Zelenskyy Hails Britain’s Wartime Support

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for the United Kingdom’s continued political, military and financial support for Ukraine during a joint press conference in Kyiv on July 16, 2026. Zelenskyy said the two countries’ relationship had reached its strongest point in history during Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.

Zelenskyy said British assistance had exceeded £11 billion, including nearly £8 billion in military aid. He cited the delivery of air-defense systems, missiles and other weapons, and said the support had made a significant contribution to Ukraine’s defense.

The Ukrainian president also highlighted the One Hundred Year Partnership Agreement between the two countries and praised Britain’s sanctions policy toward Russia. He said Ukraine had received assurances that London would continue supporting its defense and maintaining close bilateral relations.

According to Zelenskyy, the two leaders discussed conditions on the front, Ukraine’s long-range operations and continued coordination with Britain. He described such operations as part of efforts to increase pressure on Russia and help create conditions for diplomacy and a lasting peace.
