Sarina, Queensland—A recent surge in crime involving stolen vehicles and drug trafficking has led to multiple arrests and charges by the Sarina Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), as announced by Queensland Police. This initiative is part of a broader crime-fighting effort titled Operation Yankee Forge, aimed at enhancing community safety across the state. According to the Queensland Police Service (QPS), on May 8, a 48-year-old woman from Armstrong Beach was involved in purchasing a Kawasaki motorcycle with counterfeit money. This incident led to further investigations, culminating in a raid on July 2 at an Armstrong Beach residence. Police seized two stolen vehicles, including the Kawasaki, as well as illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. The woman was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including possession of dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine) and fraud. She is scheduled to appear in Sarina Magistrates Court on August 10. In a related operation, police arrested a 41-year-old Armstrong Beach man on charges of unlawful possession of motor vehicles and drug-related offences. He is set to reappear before Mackay Magistrates Court on July 29. Additionally, in Koumala, two men were apprehended for stealing a Honda Accord and a Nissan Navara on July 6, with one of the suspects facing multiple charges and awaiting court proceedings on August 5. Operation Yankee Forge is a district-led, six-month initiative targeting high-volume crimes such as vehicle theft and break-ins. The operation involves coordinated efforts from police regions and specialist squads across Queensland, focusing on crime prevention, disruption, and robust investigations. This statewide initiative reflects the commitment of local law enforcement to leverage community knowledge and enhance safety measures, ensuring offenders face stringent legal consequences.
