Police in Murgon, Queensland are urgently calling for public assistance following the theft of a silver Toyota Hilux utility vehicle, which occurred on the evening of June 20 at the Murgon Showgrounds. The vehicle, notably attached to a food van, was hijacked from Perkins Street around 8:10 pm.

According to initial reports, four males commandeered the vehicle while a 50-year-old man attempted to intervene. The situation escalated as the man was assaulted and forced out of the vehicle. He received first aid treatment at the scene. Shortly after the theft, the attached food van became detached from the vehicle a short distance from the showgrounds, though the vehicle itself continued on.

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has issued an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant footage, including CCTV or dashcam recordings from the Murgon or Cherbourg areas, to come forward. A 52-year-old man who was inside the food van at the time of the theft was reported not physically injured.
