In a significant move to bolster European security, Sergiy Kyslytsya, First Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, along with Deputy Head Ihor Zhovkva, recently convened with top officials from the Nordic and Baltic nations. The gathering focused on the urgent development of a European anti-ballistic missile system, a response to increasing regional security challenges.

During the meeting, Kyslytsya outlined Ukraine’s pivotal role in spearheading the initiative alongside European leaders. He stressed the importance of swift action to initiate the system’s practical implementation, emphasizing the collective defense it would provide for Europe. The discussions also underscored the substantial support from the NB8 countries, which have already contributed over $2 billion to the PURL initiative, with further assistance anticipated.

Looking ahead, the participants of the meeting set their sights on the upcoming NATO Summit scheduled for July 7-8 in Ankara. They also deliberated on Ukraine’s journey towards EU membership, hopeful for the advancement in negotiations expected in June. Alongside defense talks, diplomatic strategies to attain a dignified peace were also a key agenda item, highlighting Europe’s crucial role in the ongoing efforts.
