A kayaking incident in Goldsborough has resulted in the death of a 28-year-old woman, Queensland Police reported. The accident occurred on the afternoon of May 4, 2026, on the Mulgrave River.

According to initial reports, the woman was kayaking with a man and a boy when she fell into the water and did not resurface. A comprehensive search and rescue operation was promptly initiated involving multiple agencies, including the Queensland Police, Water Police, police drones, and Queensland Fire and Rescue swiftwater rescue teams.

Despite the swift response, the woman was found deceased around 5 pm, approximately two hours after the incident. Queensland Police have stated that a report will be prepared for the coroner to further investigate the circumstances of the tragedy.
