A traffic incident in Elliot Heads led to a dramatic scene when a white Hyundai Getz allegedly smashed into the front door of a local convenience store. The crash occurred just after midday on May 3, according to Queensland Police Service.

Responding to reports, police arrived at Rule Street to find the store damaged but no physical injuries reported. The driver had attempted a three-point turn, which resulted in the vehicle lunging forward into the store. However, the vehicle had left the scene before police could arrive.

Later, the vehicle was located on Goodwood Road in Alloway. A 27-year-old man from Bundaberg Central was arrested and taken into custody. He faces charges of driving with a blood alcohol content over the no alcohol limit but below the general limit, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The man is scheduled to appear before the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on June 1.

Queensland Police have urged anyone with information to contact Policelink or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers. The police have provided reference numbers QP2600849031 and QP2600848477 for this case.
