In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking in Queensland, police have charged seven individuals with a total of 105 offences following an extensive operation in the Coolum Beach area. This operation, led by Coolum Beach police, aimed to dismantle networks of drug traffickers and suppliers. The investigation began on August 23, 2024, when a 34-year-old woman from Woodridge was intercepted in a white Mazda CX-5 on David Low Way. A roadside drug test returned positive, and a subsequent search revealed dangerous drugs, cash, and suspected illicit property. The woman was arrested on May 31, 2025, and is now facing 26 charges, including drug supply and trafficking. Further investigations led to the arrests of six additional suspects. Among them is a 29-year-old man from Peregian Springs, charged with 16 offences, and a 19-year-old from Marcus Beach, facing 32 charges. The operation also uncovered illicit activities at various locations, leading to multiple arrests and charges, including the possession of dangerous drugs and drug trafficking. Inspector John Mahony of the Sunshine Coast Northern Patrol Group highlighted the dedication of local police to curbing the distribution of illegal drugs. “This proactive policing operation demonstrates our commitment to preventing harmful substances from impacting our community,” Mahony stated. The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on various dates in June and July. The Queensland Police Service urges anyone with information regarding drug-related activities to report anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
