Queensland Police have charged a 49-year-old interstate tourist after an alleged high-range drink-driving incident in Chinchilla on September 13. Police were called to a licensed venue on Heeney Street at about 12:25 a.m. after reports that a vehicle had crashed into a garden bed in the car park. Officers found a black van at the scene and allege the woman drove it forward as they approached, colliding with a support pole. The woman returned a positive roadside breath test and was taken to Chinchilla Police Station for further analysis. Police allege she recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.227 percent, more than four times the legal limit. She has been charged with driving without due care and attention and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
