Ukraine and Canada signed agreements on a 100-year partnership, defense and security cooperation, and energy collaboration during a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Calgary, according to Ukraine’s presidential office. Canada also announced $2 billion in support for Ukraine. The package is expected to fund Patriot missile systems, munitions for F-16 aircraft, drone co-production, and energy assistance. Zelenskyy said the defense support would strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses and combat aviation capabilities. The two leaders also attended a presentation of Ukrainian drones, including joint Ukrainian-Canadian projects and components made by manufacturers from both countries. Separately, representatives of 22 countries and the European Union met in Kyiv for a sanctions forum focused on assessing restrictions against Russia and discussing additional measures. In Riga, Ukrainian presidential office head Kyrylo Budanov held talks with Latvia’s president, prime minister, and defense minister on economic and defense cooperation and support for Ukraine’s integration into the EU.
