The European Parliament’s Civil Liberties Committee will hold a press conference on Tuesday, September 8, on the humanitarian and security situation in Ceuta following a surge in migrant arrivals at the end of July. Committee Chair Javier Zarzalejos will brief journalists alongside Juan Jesús Vivas, president of the autonomous Spanish city. The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. CEST at the European Parliament in Brussels. The committee held an extraordinary meeting on August 6 to discuss the situation, with participation from European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner and Vivas. The briefing will offer interpretation in English, French and Spanish and will be available to accredited media in person or remotely.
