Second Crash Victim Dies in Hospital

An 85-year-old woman has died in hospital from injuries sustained in a traffic crash at Glen Aplin, south of Stanthorpe, on May 9. Her death brings the number of fatalities from the incident to two.

Queensland Police said a blue MG ZS was travelling south on the New England Highway at about 1:50 p.m. when its driver took evasive action to avoid a gold Nissan Maxima travelling in the opposite direction on the incorrect side of the road.

The vehicles did not collide, but the MG struck a roadside culvert, rolled several times and then hit a power pole. A 92-year-old Wallangarra man, who was a passenger in the MG, died at the scene.

The woman, also from Wallangarra, was taken to hospital but died from her injuries on May 20. Police investigations remain ongoing and are being conducted under reference number QP2600889157.
