An 85-year-old woman has died in hospital after a traffic crash at Glen Aplin, south of Stanthorpe, on May 9. Her death brings the number of fatalities from the crash to two.

Queensland Police said a blue MG ZS SUV was travelling south on the New England Highway at about 1:50 p.m. when its driver took evasive action to avoid a gold Nissan Maxima travelling in the opposite direction on the incorrect side of the road.

The vehicles did not collide, but the MG struck a roadside culvert, rolled several times and then hit a power pole. A 92-year-old Wallangarra man, who was a passenger in the SUV, died at the scene.

The 85-year-old Wallangarra woman was taken to hospital after the crash and died from her injuries on May 20. Police investigations are continuing under reference number QP2600889157.
