The European Parliament will hold a press briefing on May 18 ahead of its plenary session, scheduled for May 18–21. The briefing, led by the Parliament’s spokesperson, will begin at 16:30 in the Daphne Caruana Galizia press room and will also be available online.

The week’s agenda includes the first European Order of Merit ceremony and a final vote on screening foreign investments to protect strategic sectors in the European Union. Members are also expected to debate the single market, business certainty and quality jobs.

Other planned discussions will focus on cybersecurity and preparedness related to advanced artificial intelligence systems, the EU’s response to crises in the Middle East and the European Commission’s Fertilizers Action Plan.

Parliamentarians will also debate the hantavirus outbreak and the EU’s preparedness for future health emergencies. Interpretation of the press briefing will be available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Polish, with journalists able to follow the event through Parliament’s webstreaming services.
