Police have arrested a 23-year-old man from Mountain Creek after a series of dangerous driving incidents across the Sunshine Coast on the night of June 11, escalating to multiple charges including assault and endangering police officers.

The sequence of events began around 9:45 p.m. when Sunshine Coast Highway Patrol officers spotted two motorcycles speeding on Alexandra Parade. The motorcycles were later seen engaging in hazardous maneuvers towards Battery Hill, as tracked by police helicopter POLAIR. Despite the perilous situation, no civilians were harmed during this phase of the pursuit.

The situation escalated shortly after 10 p.m. when the suspect abandoned his motorcycle on Nicklin Way and attempted to escape using an e-scooter, leading to a confrontation with a member of the Sunshine Coast Dog Squad. The officer sustained minor leg injuries after being struck by the scooter. The suspect then commandeered a grey BMW coupe, reversing into another officer who narrowly avoided severe injury by evading the vehicle. POLAIR continued to monitor the BMW until it was abandoned in an underground carpark.

The chase concluded just after 11 p.m. when police intercepted the vehicle the suspect had switched to on Wises Road, Buderim, and apprehended the individual. He faces numerous charges including dangerous operation of a vehicle, assault, and obstructing a police officer, and was denied bail pending his court appearance at the Noosa Magistrates Court today.

Authorities continue their investigation into these incidents and urge anyone with information to contact Policelink or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers. This case highlights the ongoing risks and challenges law enforcement officers face and underscores the importance of community vigilance and cooperation.
