First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, attended the 14th Book Arsenal Festival in Kiev, demonstrating unwavering support for cultural resilience amid ongoing conflict. The event, held at the historic Mystetskyi Arsenal, saw Zelenska donate a carefully selected book to Ukrainian warriors, reinforcing the role of literature in bolstering national spirit. The festival, themed “To Bear Your Freedom,” curated by Ukrainian journalist and former POW Maksym Butkevych, boasted over 150 participants including noted authors, opinion leaders, and emerging voices. The event encompassed a rich program of discussions, lectures, workshops, and artistic performances, emphasizing the influential power of words in times of turmoil. In a touching gesture of solidarity, Zelenska, alongside Mystetskyi Arsenal’s Director General Olesia Ostrovska-Liuta and Book Arsenal Director Yuliia Kozlovets, explored new publications and discussed the significant role books play in mental endurance and societal resilience. Notably absent was President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was on a working visit to Sweden, but had contributed by gifting books to Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The festival not only highlighted the cultural vitality of Ukraine but also showcased the indomitable spirit of its people through the power of literature.
