The incident took place on Balonne Highway, about 40 kilometers west of St George, at approximately 12:40 PM on April 27, 2026. Upon receiving reports of a vehicle collision with a tree, police officers were promptly dispatched to the scene. They discovered a driver and a passenger deceased inside the vehicle. The Queensland Police Service’s Forensic Crash Unit has since been investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash, including the identities of the victims and the precise timing of the event.
