Ukrainian authorities have issued a warning about an ongoing email scam involving fraudulent communications falsely attributed to Kyrylo Budanov, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. The scam was brought to light after an unauthorized email was sent to Jurij Klufas, the President of the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada, requesting media support ostensibly on behalf of the Ukrainian government.

The fraudulent email, originating from a non-official account ([email protected]), requested “active media and information support” for the repatriation of Ukrainian citizens. However, the signature and the email address used were not affiliated with Kyrylo Budanov or any official Ukrainian presidential channels. This has raised concerns over potential misinformation and exploitation attempts targeting the Ukrainian diaspora and its supporters.

All information related to this cyber fraud has been forwarded to the relevant law enforcement authorities for further investigation. The Ukrainian government urges the public to verify the authenticity of any communication claiming to be from the office of the president and to report suspicious emails. The official news and updates from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office can always be verified through their official website.
