Detectives in Townsville are seeking assistance from the public following a stabbing incident that occurred on March 1, at approximately 9 p.m. near an ATM at the intersection of Denham Street and Flinders Street. A 55-year-old man from Pimlico was approached and stabbed in the neck before the assailant fled with the victim’s bank card.

The suspect, described as a First Nations man wearing a red bandana covering his face, managed to escape before police arrived and was last spotted in the vicinity. The victim was promptly transported to Townsville University Hospital, fortunately with non-life-threatening injuries.

In a bid to capture the perpetrator, police have released CCTV footage showing a blue vehicle believed to be connected to the crime. Authorities are urging anyone who might recognize the suspect or who has any relevant footage from nearby cameras, dashcams, or mobile phones captured between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on the day of the incident to come forward.

The Queensland Police have provided several avenues for the public to provide information, including contacting Policelink by phone or through their online suspicious activity form, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
