A fatal incident occurred early on the morning of November 28, when a pedestrian was struck by a truck on Moranbah Access Road, prompting an investigation by the Forensic Crash Unit.

At approximately 12:45 AM, emergency services, including the police, were dispatched following reports that a white Hino truck had collided with a 36-year-old woman from Moranbah. Despite being rushed to Moranbah Hospital in critical condition, the woman was declared deceased shortly after arrival.

The 41-year-old male driver of the truck, who was the vehicle’s only occupant, did not sustain any physical injuries. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash and have called on anyone with information or footage from the area between 12:30 AM and 1:00 AM to come forward.

The Queensland Police Service highlighted the importance of road safety, reminding the public of the ‘Fatal Five’ behaviors—speeding, impaired driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue, and distraction—which significantly contribute to serious accidents. They encourage everyone to contribute to safer roads by staying informed and vigilant.

In response to this tragic event, the community and potential witnesses are urged to report any relevant information to Policelink or Crime Stoppers anonymously. The ongoing efforts to improve road safety are a collective responsibility, aiming to decrease the frequency and severity of such devastating incidents.
