The European Parliament’s International Trade Committee will hold a press briefing on Wednesday ahead of a delegation’s visit to China, where lawmakers will discuss trade relations, market access and supply-chain security. Committee Chair Bernd Lange and China rapporteur Pascal Canfin will lead the briefing from 2 to 2:30 p.m. CEST on Oct. 21 in Strasbourg, with online participation available to registered journalists. The session will include an off-the-record question-and-answer segment. MEPs from the committee are scheduled to travel to Beijing and Shanghai from Oct. 27 to 29 for talks with Chinese officials and counterparts. The delegation plans to raise concerns over China’s trade surplus, industrial overcapacity, subsidies, barriers facing European companies and access to critical raw materials and technologies. The mission follows recent talks in Beijing by EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič and discussions among EU leaders. Parliament officials said the delegation will assess China’s trade policies, seek improved market access and explore areas for cooperation. Registration for the briefing is required through the committee’s press office. Post navigation Parliament Sets Agenda on Russian Strikes
