Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged Russia to accept an energy ceasefire and called on the United States and European countries to increase pressure on Moscow. Speaking to participants at the Warsaw Security Forum, Zelenskyy said continued Russian attacks on Ukraine’s power infrastructure were undermining efforts to reduce the conflict’s escalation. Zelenskyy said Russian drone strikes had damaged power facilities in Kyiv and Kharkiv, while attacks also targeted gas-production infrastructure and a fuel station. He said Ukraine was prepared to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries and energy exports if Russia stopped attacking Ukraine’s power grid and other critical infrastructure. The Ukrainian president expressed support for an energy ceasefire proposal attributed to U.S. President Donald Trump, but said Russia had continued launching drones despite the initiative. He called on Washington to ensure that Moscow respected any agreement and said Ukraine was ready to provide guarantees if needed. Zelenskyy also urged European countries to maintain military, political and financial support for Ukraine, including air-defense interceptors, ammunition for F-16 aircraft and funding for domestic weapons production. He called for continued progress in Ukraine’s European Union accession talks, stronger cooperation with Poland and other allies, and greater vigilance against what he described as potential Russian hybrid operations in Europe.
