Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine is prepared to stop striking Russian energy infrastructure, provided Russia shows the same commitment. In an address on Oct. 11, he welcomed what he described as a U.S.-brokered agreement on an energy ceasefire and called for it to be implemented.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine supports credible ceasefire initiatives and broader efforts to end the war, while emphasizing the need for security guarantees to prevent renewed fighting. He said Kyiv was awaiting further details of discussions between the United States and Russia and expected Moscow to follow through on commitments outlined by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Ukrainian president also accused Russia of continuing attacks despite the reported ceasefire understanding. He said Russian drones and glide bombs had struck Ukraine during the day, including an attack on the CHP-5 energy facility in Kharkiv. According to Zelenskyy, Russian forces carried out more than 200 attacks on Ukrainian electricity generation and transmission facilities over the previous week, along with 17 strikes on gas and oil facilities.

Zelenskyy said those attacks had killed more than 150 people and wounded more than 700 during the week. He also cited ongoing diplomatic contacts with European leaders, NATO and U.S. lawmakers, saying Ukraine was working with its partners on military support, financial stability and European integration.
