Queensland police have charged a 70-year-old Kirwan man over alleged historical sexual offences involving a teenage child. Detectives from the Townsville Child Abuse and Sexual Crime Group arrested the man on September 9 following an investigation into allegations dating from 2021 and 2022. Police allege the man used his position as a coach associated with a boxing gym to commit the offences. Officers also executed a crime scene warrant at a Kirwan gym and seized several items considered relevant to the investigation. The man has been charged with four counts of sexual assault and three counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16. He is expected to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on September 15. Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Miles said the investigation demonstrated police’s commitment to thoroughly examining allegations involving an abuse of trust. Police urged anyone with relevant information to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers anonymously. Post navigation Final Ride Honors Fallen Officers
