Queensland Police have charged two juveniles following an alleged attempted robbery at a business on Flinders Street, Townsville, early on August 10. Police allege a 12-year-old girl entered the store about 2:40 a.m., selected several items and tried to leave without paying. An employee intervened and was allegedly assaulted before a 15-year-old boy entered the business, threatened the employee with a machete and fled with the girl. Officers arrested both suspects a short time later near the intersection of Dean Street and McIlwraith Street in South Townsville. The Mount Louisa girl has been charged with attempted armed robbery in company and two counts of wilful damage. She is due to appear in Townsville Children’s Court on August 14. The South Townsville boy has been charged with attempted armed robbery in company, threatening violence and stealing. He was scheduled to appear in Townsville Children’s Court on August 10.
