Machete Threats Alleged in Vehicle Theft

Queensland police are investigating the alleged theft of a vehicle from a motel in Goondiwindi on the morning of August 10. A 71-year-old man was approached by five people, some allegedly armed with machetes, before his LandCruiser was taken.

Police said the man was outside a motel on Phar Lap Court at about 6 a.m. when the group approached him and threatened him. He was not physically injured.

The vehicle was later found abandoned at Toomelah Mission in northern New South Wales. Detectives from the Goondiwindi Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing their investigation.
