Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine, support for Ukraine’s energy system and preparations for the coming winter during a phone call on July 29, according to Ukraine’s presidential office. Zelenskyy briefed Macron on his recent meetings at the White House and in the U.S. Senate, as well as the prospects for further diplomatic engagement. He said the two leaders coordinated possible steps to advance efforts toward peace and thanked Macron for his willingness to help. The conversation also addressed large-scale wildfires in France. Zelenskyy offered Ukrainian assistance, including the deployment of specialists to support firefighting operations, saying Ukraine was ready to help countries that had supported it during Russia’s invasion. The presidents discussed planned deliveries of air-defense equipment and energy-support packages for Ukraine ahead of winter. Macron said France would work to identify solutions to provide further assistance, the Ukrainian presidential office said.
