Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid tribute to U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham during a farewell ceremony at Washington National Cathedral on July 29. Graham died on July 11, according to the Ukrainian presidential website. The ceremony was attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, members of Congress, and Graham’s family and friends. Graham was described as a prominent Republican supporter of Ukraine. During Russia’s full-scale invasion, he visited Ukraine 10 times and backed legislation aimed at strengthening its defense capabilities, deepening ties between Kyiv and Washington, and imposing additional sanctions on Russia. The statement highlighted the Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025, introduced by Graham and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal. The proposed legislation includes a 100% tariff on countries buying Russian energy and additional restrictions on Russia’s shadow fleet. Supporters of the bill have continued efforts to advance it following Graham’s death. Post navigation Zelenskyy, Stubb Discuss Diplomacy Zelenskyy, Macron Discuss Peace Efforts
