NASA Prepares Crew-13 Briefings

NASA will hold two news conferences Aug. 3 on the upcoming SpaceX Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station, giving officials and astronauts a final opportunity to discuss preparations before the crew travels to Florida for launch.

The mission overview briefing is scheduled for noon EDT, followed by a crew news conference at 2 p.m. NASA said both events will be streamed online at NASA.gov/live. Mission officials will discuss the flight plan and operations, while the astronauts will outline their training and preparations.

Crew-13 is scheduled to carry NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov to the space station. The crew is expected to launch no earlier than mid-September aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft on a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Watkins will serve as commander and make her second spaceflight, while Delaney, Kutryk and Teteryatnikov are preparing for their first missions to orbit. NASA said Watkins will become the first agency astronaut to fly aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft twice. Media seeking in-person or virtual access must register with NASA’s Johnson Space Center newsroom by deadlines set for July 21, July 30 or the day of the event, depending on attendance plans.
