Police in Morayfield are intensifying their search for a man linked to a violent incident that occurred at a local shopping center on January 3, 2026. The assault, which took place around 12:25 pm, involved a man who allegedly injured a 78-year-old woman over a shopping trolley dispute.

According to the Queensland Police Service (QPS), the altercation began when a woman informed the man that she was using the trolley he intended to move. The confrontation escalated quickly, resulting in the man pushing the trolley against the woman, causing her to strike her head against a window and fall, with the trolley landing on top of her. The victim, a resident of Banksia Beach, sustained serious injuries to her hip and lower leg and was subsequently hospitalized.

In efforts to apprehend the suspect, the QPS has released surveillance images of the man believed to be involved. They are calling on the public to assist by providing any information that could lead to his identification and capture.
