Four young individuals were apprehended following a dramatic police chase involving three stolen vehicles in the Gold Coast area, Queensland, on the morning of May 31, 2026. The Queensland Police Service (QPS) reported the incident, noting ongoing investigations into the matter. According to the QPS, the vehicles—a black Mercedes-Benz, a grey Land Rover Range Rover, and a white Hyundai Kona—were allegedly seen speeding through the Nerang area around 7:30 AM with masked offenders aboard. Police intervention peaked when a tyre deflation device successfully halted the Hyundai in Carrara, although the vehicle initially attempted to escape. The chase concluded on Gooding Drive, Merrimac, where the four juveniles were detained. The Hyundai was reportedly stolen earlier that day from Merrimac, while the Land Rover and the Mercedes-Benz were taken from Clear Island Waters between the late hours of May 30 and early hours of May 31. The Land Rover was later found at a Merrimac address, but the Mercedes-Benz remains unaccounted for. Charges have been laid against two 15-year-olds—a boy from Merrimac and a girl from Highland Park—while two 14-year-old girls from Forest Lake and Palm Beach have been handled under the Youth Justice Act provisions. The Merrimac boy faces multiple charges, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle and entering a dwelling to commit an indictable offense. Both 15-year-olds are scheduled for a court appearance at Southport Children’s Court on June 10. Authorities continue to urge the public to come forward with any relevant information, CCTV footage, or dashcam video that may assist in further investigations. Residents can report anonymously via Crime Stoppers or directly contact Policelink for any suspicious activity. Post navigation Queensland Coast Guard Evolves
