In a dramatic late-night operation, Queensland Police apprehended a 14-year-old boy from Upper Coomera, charged with the unlawful use of a motor vehicle. The incident, which unfolded in the early hours of Monday in Currumbin Valley, involved a stolen red 2007 Hyundai i30 hatchback initially taken from Emperor Grove. According to police reports, the stolen vehicle was spotted around 2:10 AM on Oates Parade at Northgate with two male occupants. When police attempted to intercept, the driver evaded capture, leading to a dangerous pursuit along Toombul Road. The chase continued south to Currumbin Valley, where the occupants abandoned the vehicle on Baines Road and fled into the bushland. The Queensland Police’s Dog Squad successfully located one of the suspects, a 14-year-old boy, hiding at a nearby property around 5:30 AM. He was charged and scheduled for a court appearance at the Southport Children’s Court. The search for the second male involved in this incident is ongoing.
